Max Emerson State Wrestling Memorial Scholarship

Each year our foundation recognizes an outstanding male and female senior wrestler in the state of Kentucky who embodies Max's spirit and has overcome adversity to find a way to succeed. Winners receive a $1000 scholarship and a custom Champions Find a Way championship wrestling belt.  Recipients of this prestigious award are hardworking, team centered, coachable, and display a positive “can do” attitude.  This athlete has a passion for the sport of wrestling, never gives up, and exemplifies the motto "Champions Find a Way."  Finally, this wrestler has "found a way" to overcome some type of adversity in his/her life.

“After college, my goal is to open an after-school wrestling program. Wrestling has given me so much, and I want to pass that on to as many kids as I can. I want to give kids who were like me—kids who needed something to help them believe in themselves—somewhere to go. I want them to have a place where people are excited to see them, where they can make friends, even if they’re a little different or don’t fit in with the “cool” crowd at school. I want to make sure these kids have someone to show up and cheer for them, even if it’s just for a few hours on a Saturday. “ Logan Cantrell

“The sport of wrestling means more to me than what most people would know. The people, my head coach, and the sport truly saved me. “
